Rugby player? Yes, please: He’s on a billboard yo. Understanding, sexy, funny and so loving with his grandfather, I loved Spencer. You meet Caitlyn when she saves Spencer’s grandfather Philip from dying on a London street. When she goes to visit him in the hospital and meets Spencer, I expected it to go a certain way. Then she bit him and things got interesting.

Interesting heroine: Caitlyn is a WATSAN specialist, or as she puts it to folks, she helps build toilets in disaster stricken areas. But it’s so much more than that and she actually does her job, something that shouldn’t be as much of a novelty as it is, but there you have it. I love when the characters have full lives, including jobs that seem to matter beyond the romance. More importantly, her job matters to her and she’s good at it. Some of the strongest bits of the story is seeing her proficiency at what she does and how Spencer adores her for it.
It’s familiar: There’s a reason for this - it hits alot of the usual romantic tropes: hot athlete hero, virginal heroine, dark secrets in hero and heroine’s past, and a personal fave of mine, the oops! How’d that happen oh wait because sex. The characters made this journey more memorable than any plot twists.

A little slow to start and a little frustrating to end: The insecurity in Caitlyn makes complete sense. Doesn’t stop it from being hella frustrating at times. I did appreciate that when it matters, she steps up and acknowledges her issues, as does Spencer. The story also takes a bit to warm up and I don’t think I was fully engaged in the characters until approximately a quarter of the way in. Having said that, I would say that there’s a good foundation for a series. Plus, did I mention hot athletes? It’s a win-win, really.

The Bottom Line [3.5 stars]
While it hits alot of branches on that old trope tree, it’s still an enjoyable read with rugby men. Yum. Sign me up for the next one.

Knowing the Score London Legends Book 1 edition by Kat Latham Contemporary Romance eBooks Reviews

This is the second book and the first full length novel by Kat Latham I have read. It was so unbelievably good! It is definitely the finest contemporary romance that I have ever read (and I have read a lot) and it is in my top ten list for books of any genre. I was entranced from the very first chapter, and I hated stopping the audiobook at the end of my car trips. The writing and the character development were top notch. The narrator was excellent, pleasing to the ears, and she made me feel that she was Caitlyn because she inhabited the character completely. Her range and subtlety at expressing emotion made the story so real! I wish that her voice for Spencer was a tad lower in pitch, but the performance was still riveting. Her American and English accents were excellent, and she expertly switched between them. The sound quality of the recording was also excellent! This is one of my favorite audiobooks ever, and I am so happy that I bought it!
I love how Kat Latham creates female characters who have made fulfilling careers for themselves helping others and who are really good, sweet people in spite of terrible experiences during their teen years. Caitlyn is a very positive person and is very successful in her career as an emergency aid worker to countries after natural disasters. Spencer also has worked hard on his career being a professional rugby player with the London Legends team. He is also so sexy that he makes extra money being an underwear model (hot!). Oh, Spencer has such a wonderful personality and a strong sense of morality. If I were single and he was a real person, I would marry him in a heartbeat. Spencer loves his grandfather so much (awww!). Spencer is so patient with Caitlyn and never rushes her into doing anything.
This novel has everything I could ask for loveable main characters, lively secondary characters, humor, personal growth, moments of vulnerability for both characters; it is steamy, sweet, tender, and riveting. It feels like the relationship could actually happen there is a very natural evolution of the relationship and a slow increase in their trust in each other. Spencer and Caitlyn start as acquaintences, then friends with benefits, and then something more. There are bumps along the way, but I think they added nicely to the book.
Also I have never come across a first kiss in a romance book like this one! OMG! At first, Caitlin's issues might seem a bit ridiculous but when you find out how her problems started in the past, it makes so much sense and is very believable.
If you like contemporary romance, you can't go wrong buying this book or audiobook. Kat Latham's novella "Unwrapping Her Perfect Match" is also wonderful (I gave it 5 stars) but is not as complex and deep as this novel.
